My City My State, LLC is a Greensburg, Indiana company whose purpose is to provide "community-focused solutions."  We(I) just introduced www.greensburgneighbors.com on May 4th and am happy thus far with the amount of traffic it has received.  If you have the time please stop by our "Blog about Community" to get a better picture of what we mean by "community-focused solutions."  In the meantime, here are a few of the goals and approaches we as a company are pursuing.

 

GOALS

What do we want?

  • We would like to encourage "more" neighbors to know their community.
  • We would like for "more" neighbors to have more involvement with their community.
  • We would like to find "more" our neighbor's talents to help strengthen their community.
  • We would like to create more "servants" and "givers" from our neighbors.
  • We would like to encourage bonding, despite disagreements.
  • We would like to encourage "good" news.
  • Encourage local spending.
  • Share our approach with 90% of communities in Indiana by 2010.

  • Help encourage frontporch conversation and relationship.

APPROACHES

                How do we want to get there? 

  • Provide information and access to community organizations and groups through internet and print.
  • Provide a common gathering spot for ideas that eliminates the initial person-to-person fears.
  • Share stories of hope, joy, peace, goodwill, etc.
  • Find ways to constructively argue.
  • Host events for neighborly interaction.
  • Have business offer coupons and extras for buying from them.
  • Find and facilitate a site director from each community.

UNCERTAINTIES

Here's what we "believe" will happen.

  • Overall increase in personal happiness.
  • Safer communities for our children.
  • Fewer drugs and alcohol being used for happiness.
